Your business, your way.

Doing work you enjoy, choosing your clients, having time for the things that matter… These are some of the reasons we go solo.Solo Boss is where we explore what that looks like in practice and share our experiences about building a business.

For solo bosses who want more from their business and their life.

Get together with other solo bosses

We’re organising online events where you can hear how other solo business owners are building a business around the life they want. When you join us live, you can also share your own experiences and exchange ideas with others. We plan to keep these events free for the foreseeable future. Sign up below, and we’ll send you an invitation when there’s a date on the calendar.

The people behind Solo Boss

We’re Merve and Denise. We’ve both changed how we run our businesses to make more time for life outside work. Solo Boss is where we share what we’re learning and bring other solo business owners into the conversation.

Merve Goulding • Flow Dept.

Merve is a systems designer specialising in Notion, helping solo professionals get organised and manage their work and time more efficiently. An unexpected slow summer led her to try working half days, four days a week. The time and headspace it created changed how she thought about her business — and helped inspire Solo Boss.

Denise Strohsahl • sandstonecastles

Denise is a brand and marketing strategist who’s been helping small business owners find their voice since 2010.She moved to a four-day working week to make time for building an off-grid woodland cabin and kept it that way. Her long weekends now involve reading, chopping wood, and an ongoing battle with the blackthorn bushes.

Looking for the Slow Summer Club?

In 2026, Slow Summer Club brought solo business owners together to build the marketing foundations they needed to slow down for summer. We’ve decided not to run the programme in 2027, and we haven’t decided whether it will return later. You can still join our list and get invited to future Solo Boss events.
